We provide personal, one-on-one volunteers for each person who enters our doors. We have no geographical boundaries and our recipients can choose their own items within our guidelines. Whether you are in need of assistance or you would like to offer your time, finances or in-kind donations to help provide assistance to others, you are welcome!

Got compost?KC Can Compost is our new composting partner at the Village Food Pantry. We’re inviting you to join the compost program at Village, so you can compost at home while also benefitting the Food Pantry. Our composting vendor runs a 'Waste to Work' program. When you subscribe to that program, you can collect compostable materials in a five-gallon bucket at home and then bring it to the Village Food Pantry to empty into the large containers we have on site. The Food Pantry receives a discount on our monthly cost of composting depending on how many people participate.
You receive: one five-gallon bucket with a tight-fitting lid, or a one-gallon bucket, or both. Your cost: $10-$30 start-up fee (depending on your choice of container) plus $12.99 per month for a subscription. Compostable bucket liners are available at the Food Pantry. Your benefit: Bring your bucket to the Pantry each week to empty it and have the satisfaction of knowing you're helping the environment by keeping organic matter out of the waste stream and contributing to the discount received by the Pantry for its composting needs. To sign up: Register online at the KC Can Compost website. Complete the information and in the "Referral" field type “VCFP." The container(s) you choose will be made available for you to pick up at the Pantry. I've been composting at my house for several years… You'll be surprised at the things you can compost—not only food and meal scraps but also paper towels with no chemicals on them, cut flowers that have lived their life, eggshells, light cardboard/fiberboard, meat scraps and bones, shellfish shells, etc. Email Dennis or call KC Can Compost at 816-912-3286 if you have any questions.
