Confidential help at no cost
Stephen Ministry is an international ministry based in St. Louis which has provided spiritual support to over 1.5 million people worldwide in over 13,000 congregations. The Village Church Stephen Ministry program pairs people who are experiencing difficulties in their lives with specially trained members of the church who are equipped to listen, care for, and provide emotional and spiritual support. This one-to-one Christian care is confidential and available to church members and the wider community at no cost.
After being paired together, the individual receiving care and the Stephen Minister meet together on a weekly basis. The caring relationship lasts as long as the need for care exists. Any circumstance that poses challenges in life such as grief, loneliness, chronic or terminal illness, divorce, hospitalization, disability, job loss, the holidays or even seasonal blues could be a reason to get in touch with a Stephen Minister. There is no issue too small to benefit from a caring, thoughtful listening ear.

“When someone you love is terminally ill, people often pull back because they’re scared and don’t know what to say. But my Stephen Minister stood with me through it all — listening, talking, and helping me on the journey. It was so reassuring to know he was by my side.”

“I became a Stephen Minister 13 years ago. I learned to really listen to others. I have gotten more out of Stephen Ministry than I have put in. My faith has grown; I am a better mother, friend and person, thanks to the training I’ve received.”
