Village Being Village
Oct. 25-Nov. 8, 2020

Sounds silly enough, but the most important work of the church is to be the church. The gospel is not an idea or a program, but a community. When we give, it seems so individualized. There is that element. The money I give comes out of my bank account, which for most of us, except trust fund kiddos, comes from the fruit of my labor. But that individual choice makes possible the communal reality in the world. Apart from this, the church evaporates from the ground. God is calling the church in our day to be a community of redemption, grace and peace.  Rev. Tom Are preaches this series.

The Heart of Mission
The Heart of Mission
Nov. 8, 2020 - Rev. Tom Are
Rev. Tom Are concludes the series “Village Being Village” speaking of mission. The history of mission at Village is significant. It began in our first days and continues to be a central part of who we are today.  There was a time when we thought of mission being one way, but we have learned, mission, when it is in the spirit of Christ, is a two-way heart holding.  Our scripture reading is Philippians 1:6-7.

Can We Talk?
Nov. 1, 2020 - Rev. Tom Are
Conversation is a lost art. But it is a spiritual practice. Rev. Tom Are preaches Village will be a place of conversation. You don’t want to be a part of that, unless you want your life to change. You might learn something new. And you might learn to love someone who isn’t like you. Our scripture reading is Acts 10:9-17a, 23b-34.

Job Number One
Oct. 25, 2020 - Rev. Tom Are
Rev. Tom Are begins a new series “Village Being Village.” What do you think Village Church is known for? Or what should we be known for? Jesus said, “The world will know you belong to me by your love for one another.” It’s interesting that he didn't say, the world will know that you belong to me by your love for the world! No, “by your love for one another.” Jesus says loving one another is our mission. Our scripture reading is 1 Corinthians 1:10-17.
