Be the Church Service week
During the week of Oct. 24 through 31, Village Church will take part in service work as part of Be the Church Service Week. For its sixth year, Village Church is offering a hybrid format with a combination of in-person and at-home activities. Below are a list of activities being offered during the week. For items completed at home, you can drop off your service gifts in the tubs outside Village on Mission’s (VOM) south entrance or Village on Antioch’s (VOA) main entrance during the week of Oct. 24 -31. Please deliver your service gifts by 6 p.m. on Oct. 31 at the latest.
Below are instructions for each of the service projects.
Pack Hygiene Kits for Heart to Heart International (In-Person)
On Sunday, Oct. 24, at 10:45 a.m. after worship at Village on Antioch, you are invited to help assemble hygiene kits for those in need in the U.S. and abroad. CLICK HERE to sign up. Ages 3+ are welcome. No special skills are needed.
Make Thanksgiving Cards for Village Church Food Pantry Clients
Use the template you can download by clicking the button below, or make your own from scratch, decorate Thanksgiving cards for our pantry clients which will be distributed in November. Drop off your creations in the Thanksgiving card tub at VOM or VOA.
Donate Socks and Snacks for the Homeless
Purchase adult socks and stuff them with nonperishable healthy snacks such as dried fruit, trail mix and granola bars without nuts and beef jerky, and drop them off in the socks and snacks tub at VOM or VOA. Your donation will be distributed to those living on the streets via the nonprofit Hope Faith Ministries.
Cut Out Patterns to Make Shoes to Prevent Jiggers in Uganda
Using the template and instructions you can download by clicking the button below, and old blue jeans you no longer need, cut out patterns that will be made into shoes by Sole Hope for Ugandans. Place the material you cut out for each pair of shoes in its own plastic bag and drop it off to the shoes for Ugandans tub at VOM or VOA.
Donate Cereals for the Village Church Food Pantry
The food pantry can use hot and cold cereals and granola, especially kid’s cereals. Drop off your contribution in the pantry tub at VOM or VOA.
Donate Diapers for Refugee Families
This year Village Church is partnering with Jewish Vocational Services, the largest refugee resettlement agency in Kansas City, to provide diapers to refugee families in need. You may leave your donation in the tub at VOM or VOA.
