Light A Candle began in 2008 as a project to bring health education and hope
to field worker families in the sugar cane plantations
surrounding La Romana, Dominican Republic.
Their work includes:
HEALTH PRESENTATIONS IN COMMUNITIES
HEALTH WORKSHOPS TO SMALL GROUPS & PROMOTERS
LOCALLY PRODUCED HEALTH VIDEOS
HEALTH FAIRS OFFERING SCREENINGS, COUNSELING, LITERATURE
CONTINUAL EVALUATION & MEASURABLE OUTCOMES
Light A Candle Foundation seeks to “multiply” the light in La Romana
Let your light shine through your support …
$30 provides instruction and supplies to train & empower one “Community Health Volunteer”
$60 provides instruction and supplies to train & empower two “Community Health Volunteers”
$100 provides one full day of educational activities for an entire class of students
$300 provides three full days of educational activities for an entire class of students
$500 provides a health fair with screenings, counseling and literature for 100-150 people

DRMP/LIGHT A CANDLE COLLABORATION
LIGHT A CANDLE GENERATES PROJECT PROPOSALS TO MEET THE NEEDS OF THEIR COMMUNITIES.
DRMP REVIEWS THE PROPOSALS. DONATIONS TO “HEALTH EDUCATION” FUND THESE PROJECTS.
DRMP MAY ALSO OFFER TECHNICAL SUPPORT IN AREAS SUCH AS VIDEO PRODUCTION, SPECIALIZED MEDICAL EXPERTISE AND PUBLIC HEALTH OUTREACH.
