Volunteer Opportunities

Youth Ministry Time and Talent Needs

Trust that you are gifted!

Listed below are ways you can share your time and talents with the Youth Ministry. If you are interested in any of the volunteer opportunities, please contact Youth Ministry, e-mail or 913.671.2302.

Our Youth Need You! — Venture to Volunteer

Lead Small Groups

Time Commitment: One to two hours on Sunday mornings, 9:30–10:30, Sunday evenings, 6:30–8:30 or Wednesday evenings, 6:30–8:30.

Volunteers will need to commit to a month at a time. We would also like to have a back-up list so if a person cannot make it, we have a replacement.

Training will be provided! We will provide times when volunteers can come learn skills that will help in facilitating discussion and connecting to youth.

Resources will be provided! We will provide leaders with the overall plan for the session and any background information on the Bible, history or theology that might be necessary.

Build Relationships With Youth

Time Commitment: One to two hours once or twice a month. This will be a regular commitment in an effort to connect our youth with the rest of the church (and vice versa).

Members will commit to building relationships with our middle and high school students outside of normal church hours. Volunteers will attend one or more youth event, so that students can get to know them. The Director of Youth Ministry will then connect a volunteer with a student, asking the volunteer to find times to call or visit with the youth.

Training will be provided! We will organize times when volunteers can come together and learn skills that are helpful in relationship building and faith sharing.

Plan and Prepare

Time Commitment: Will vary with different events.

Volunteers who enjoy logistics will help us plan our trips and fundraisers by doing a lot of behind-the-scenes work of preparing for our programs (i.e. picking up donuts on Sunday mornings or help in planning trips).

8-In-A-Van

Time Commitment: Two hours once a month.

Volunteers accompany the Youth Director once a month in getting coffee, frozen yogurt or a snack with a group of middle school students.

This is a fun, informal event to get to know our students better.

Hang Out With Youth

Time Commitment: One to two hours once or twice a week.

Volunteers will be asked to sign up for at least two weeks at a time.

In order to ensure that we are in keeping with our Child Protection Policy, we need to have at least two adults present at all of our youth activities — including Bible Study and Youth Band rehearsal.

Youth Band rehearses from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Sundays and occasionally on Wednesday evenings. Bible Study will likely be on Thursday evenings from 6:00 or 6:30 to 7:00 or 7:30 p.m.

Special Events and Trips

Time Commitment: Varies from a couple of hours up to a week depending on the trip or event planned.

Upcoming opportunities:

Bump City: Parents of middle school students, we will need parents to serve in shifts of a couple of hours each, up to about 1:00 a.m. The date is still in the works, but the event will be happening this fall.

Relevant training will be provided according to the needs of each trip.
